Activities: Food and Beverages/ Breakfast and Lunch/ Verbs Comer (to eat) and Beber (to drink)

Dear parents and students, This week we will be reading, listening to, and explaining information about foods and beverages for breakfast and lunch. We will also learn new (present tense) verbs to talk about eating and drinking. These are important skills. The TEKS state that students at this grade level should know how to “engage in oral and written exchanges of learned material to socialize and to provide and obtain information” in order to be able to communicate in the second language being learned. I have included a few activities, found on the internet, which will help you both to master this skill. Activity 1: At the For Dummies website, you can read a very useful article about Ordering at a Restaurant in Spanish. Please read this article as it has helpful vocabulary and even phonology examples for correct pronunciation to help you and your child order any dish from a variety of Spanish speaking country. Activity 2: After you have read about different ways to order food in Spanish (for different Spanish speaking countries), watch the video, How to Order Food and Drinks in Spanish by The Real Spanish Teacher. This video will demonstrate how to use that new vocabulary with correct word pronunciation and specific examples. Activity 3: Our last activity is the food section on the online educational game called DuoLingo . This app is very fun and interactive, and allows for students learning a second language to practice their vocabulary skills at different levels. Señora Soto 

Welcome to: Learn Spanish with Ms. Soto!

Dear parents and students, ¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to ¡Aprende español con la Señora Soto! (Learn Spanish with Ms. Soto), our class edublog at Pampa Junior High School. I’m glad you’re here!! In this edublog, you will find activities that support the foreign language skills that our 7th and 8th grade students are learning about in class. All activities are aligned to the Texas Education Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), as well as classroom instruction. Check each Monday for activities that both you and your child will be able to use to help reinforce the skills learned during classroom instruction. These activities will allow you to learn more about what was discussed or practiced in class. Suerte (Good luck), Señora Soto 
